Review: Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness

August, a nonbinary Asian person, is wearing the Brief Harness. Their hands are on their hips; only their arms, torso and upper legs are in the frame. They are wearing a green pair of leggings underneath the harness, and a black binder covers their chest.

I have terrible hand-eye coordination, so using traditional strap-on harnesses can be a challenge. Even though I can technically put one on myself, itā€™s usually done with the grace of someone trying to assemble IKEA furniture.

With that said, I find the concept of brief style harnesses very appealing. Hoping to simplify strap-on sex and everyday packing, I decided to purchase the Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness.

Design

Upon first glance, the Rodeoh Brief Harness is exactly what it says on the tin – a pair of brief style underwear, with a 1.5ā€ o-ring in the front to hold a dildo or packer. When turned inside out, there’s a pocket to insert a bullet vibrator. Since my only bullet vibe is on the larger side, I didnā€™t end up utilizing that pocket.

Even though I had originally hoped to wear this in public for everyday packing, Iā€™m not sure how comfortable Iā€™d feel doing so due to the aggressive branding. Thereā€™s nothing discreet about the waistband, which has been emblazoned with the Rodeoh logo in bold, gigantic letters. Regardless of where Iā€™m wearing the Brief Harness, I canā€™t ignore the fact that this thing makes me feel like a walking billboard.

In order to put a packer or dildo through the o-ring, I find it most effective to separate the pocket flaps, then pull the fabric away from the front. Thanks to the o-ringā€™s slightly elastic nature, I was able to fit some larger toys using the ziploc bag method.[1]Shoutout to Artemisia Femmecock for this strap-on hack and tutorial! It has saved me (and my dildos) countless times.

Materials & Care

This strap-on harness is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. I usually consider cotton to be a breathable material, but this harnessā€™ fabric is so thick that it can get a little hot after a while. (Hot in a sweaty way, not a sexy way.)

According to the care label, this harness can be machine washed in cold water, on the delicate cycle. It can also be tumble dried at a low heat. Alternatively, hand washing the Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness and hanging it to dry can help extend its lifespan.

Fit

Although Iā€™ve distanced myself from the religion I grew up in, I still hold ā€œThe higher the pants, the closer to Godā€ to be true. Iā€™m the type of person who needs their bottoms to be mid to high rise, reaching to at least my belly button. To be clear, itā€™s not even a modesty thing – Iā€™m perfectly content wearing a high waisted thong. Low rise underwear, though, is a hard limit for me. It makes me feel weirdly exposed, and I hate it.

With this in mind, I was horrified to discover that this ā€œbriefā€ harness more closely resembles low rise hipster cut underwear. Not only does the waistband fall squarely between my pubic mound and belly button, it also rolls down on occasion.

Itā€™s worth noting that Rodeohā€™s size chart is weird as fuck. My measurements are right in between their XL and 1X, and their website suggests sizing down if youā€™re between sizes. I tend to be a rule follower to a fault, so I ordered the XL for a more secure fit.

While the Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness is definitely secure, itā€™s also not comfortable or flattering in any way. Once Iā€™ve managed to put on the harness, it feels like wearing a pair of Spanx for my crotch. It also flattens my already flat ass, creating the ultimate losing combo.

To combat gender dysphoria, I usually wear a binder or at least a sports bra during sex. However, I would be hesitant to wear a binder and the Brief Harness together for extended periods of time. Thatā€™s a lot of compression, and I’d like to have circulation in all of my limbs, thank you very much.

Function

As a strap-on harness

Since Iā€™m not seeing anyone at the moment, I havenā€™t been able to test drive the Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness in the context of partnered sex. The ultra snug fit limits my range of motion quite a bit; Iā€™m not sure how well it would perform if I actually tried to fuck someone using this.

However, I did experiment with wearing the harness during masturbation. Regardless of dildo girth and length, the o-ring is too large for most of my dildo bases. Even my medium Tantus Silk dildo, which has a decently wide base, had trouble staying put. I tried strapping on my Tantus Acute, adding some lube and stroking it as if it were a penis. That was fun until the base made its way out of the o-ring midway through, causing the dildo to come off in my hand as I laughed maniacally.

After that, I attempted to use the harness with a vibrator. I tried placing the Rocks Off Chaiamo in the vibe pocket, but it kept getting smashed against my pubic bone. When I’m feeling bottom dysphoric, I usually wedge the Chaiamo through the fly of my boxers or under the waistband to get off. Sadly, the Brief Harness is too snug for me to do either of those things.

As a packing harness

For the most part, I had very limited success while packing with the Rodeoh Brief Harness.

My go-to packer is the mini Kudu Voodoo Trex, which has a 3ā€ long shaft. I wasnā€™t sure whether to pack with my packer shaft inside or outside of the o-ring, so I tried both. No matter how I positioned it, the Trex would inevitably flop out of the harness. At other times, it would slip down farther than Iā€™d like. If packers are sitting too low on my pubic bone, they’re usually rendered invisible by my thighs.

I had slightly better luck using a packing pouch[2]I typically just use an ankle sock, nothing fancy. and safety pin with these briefs. However, that defeats the purpose of using a harness for packing. Itā€™s much easier to pack with my regular underwear than with the Brief Harness.

Overall

This harness is decidedly not a good match for me. Although I like the theoretical simplicity of brief harnesses, the Rodeoh Strap-On Brief Harness is less easy peasy and more lemon squeezy (mostly just squeezy.) It puts both dildos and packers farther between my legs than Iā€™d like, but thatā€™s ultimately a personal preference.

Considering the price and weird sizing, I wouldnā€™t recommend this product unless you really enjoy wearing tight, low rise undies.[3]Hey, no judgement here! There are other boxer and brief style harnesses out there that are both more comfortable and more affordable.
